Derrygonnelly GAA was founded in 1924 and they have won the Fermanagh Senior Football Championship nine times since. Their gym was designed for both players and non-playing members in a brand new facility that was built on their land beside their clubhouse for the sole use of the gym.
To maximise space they decided on back to back half racks with astroturf through the middle of the gym with both player specific and non player specific gym equipment. The 3D design helped map out the gym using dimension specific assets to maximise the space available and ensure installation runs smoothly before installation commenced.

Key Equipment
A distinctive feature of the Derrygonnelly GAA gym is the attention to detail in both design and equipment. Custom branding was added to the inserts and nameplates on the back of the racks, giving the facility a unique identity that reflects the pride and tradition of the club. This personalisation not only enhances the professional appearance of the gym but also creates a supportive and homely atmosphere that resonates with both the players and the wider community. To meet the growing demands of members, the gym was recently expanded with the addition of an upstairs area dedicated primarily to cardio training. This extension has allowed the club to introduce a wider variety of machines, ensuring that members have access to equipment that supports endurance, fitness, and overall health alongside strength development.
The gym now offers a balanced mix of cardio and strength equipment, catering to a broad range of training goals—whether players are focusing on match fitness, rehabilitation, or general wellbeing. Central to the strength area are the Bolt Strength Back-to-Back Half Racks, strategically installed to maximise space and efficiency during team workouts. These racks, combined with an ample supply of weights and bar storage neatly arranged along the outer wall of the gym, create an organised and functional training environment. This layout is particularly important for group sessions, as it ensures that every piece of equipment has a designated space, reducing clutter and minimising the risk of accidents when the entire team is training together. The thoughtful organisation and high-quality equipment make the facility not only practical but also safe, reinforcing Derrygonnelly GAA’s commitment to providing a top-class environment for both athletes and community members alike.
Installation
The installation process was a significant project in itself, requiring a dedicated team of five skilled installers working over the course of five days to bring the vision of the Derrygonnelly GAA gym to life. Every stage of the build was carefully managed, from the delivery and assembly of the large-scale equipment to the precise positioning of the racks, storage units, and cardio machines. Attention to detail was critical to ensure that the layout supported both functionality and safety, while also making the best possible use of the available space. The installers worked closely with the club throughout the process to align the final setup with the needs of players and members, guaranteeing that the equipment was not only assembled to the highest standard but also tailored to support the unique demands of team training.
When the installation was complete, the reaction from it’s users and players was overwhelmingly positive. The transformation of the space into a high-performance training facility was met with enthusiasm, as it provided a professional environment where the team could prepare, train, and improve together. Beyond its practical benefits, the new gym also generated a sense of pride among the community, reinforcing the club’s commitment to investing in resources that benefit both current players and future generations. The successful completion of the installation marked the beginning of a new chapter for Derrygonnelly GAA, one where their members could fully embrace the advantages of a modern, purpose-built fitness facility.
