Tonic Health Club is located within Castleknock Hotel and offers a state-of-the-art leisure experience for all its members and guests. Before the upgrade, this room at Castleknock Hotel was an underutilised, outdated studio with untapped potential. Recognising the opportunity to elevate their offering, the team at Tonic Health Club partnered with Fitness Equipment Ireland to completely transform the space into a modern, functional training zone.

From the initial concept to final installation, we worked closely with the Tonic team to ensure every detail aligned with their vision—maximising functionality, flow, and aesthetics.

This gym facility originated from the transformation of a former handball alley, repurposed into a fully functional training space for both club players and members of the wider community. What began as a small, volunteer-led initiative by dedicated members of the club’s committee quickly evolved into a significant project, driven by the shared vision of creating a much-needed fitness resource. From the outset, the goal was to ensure the space would accommodate a diverse range of users—including players, families, personal training clients, and group class participants.

Design & Preparations

A key part of this project’s success was the detailed planning phase. Our 3D gym design service played a crucial role in bringing the vision to life. By mapping out the room digitally, we were able to visualise the layout, optimise equipment placement, and ensure efficient use of every inch of space — all before a single piece of kit arrived on-site.

This not only helped the Tonic Health Club team fully understand how the finished facility would function and flow, but it also allowed us to make strategic decisions early on — avoiding costly changes later in the process. Every element was carefully considered and signed off through 3D visuals before installation began.

Key Equipment

To elevate both the functionality and aesthetic of the space, we supplied a range of high-impact equipment tailored to the club’s needs. One standout feature is the installation of Multi Coloured hex lights — not only do they add a bold, modern visual edge, but they also help define the workout zone and enhance the overall atmosphere of the room. These lights have become a real focal point in the space, giving it that premium, performance-driven feel.

We also supplied a full set of body pump bars, which offer versatile training options for group classes and individual workouts alike. Their compact design and ease of use make them perfect for this multi-purpose area, supporting everything from strength training to high-rep endurance sessions.

Installation

The finished space is a complete transformation from its original form — what was once an underused studio is now a modern, high-energy training zone that stands out as one of the key features of Tonic Health Club. The sleek layout and high-quality equipment have all contributed to creating a space that feels both professional and motivating.

Since completion, this area has become the busiest and most utilised part of the gym, playing host to a wide range of group classes, functional workouts, and individual training sessions throughout the day. Its flexibility and smart design make it ideal for high footfall while maintaining a smooth flow of movement and activity.

For both members and hotel guests, the new space has been a significant upgrade — adding real value to their overall experience and helping Tonic Health Club deliver a premium fitness environment.
