Caragh GAA came to us looking for a brand new gym as their current club gym was too small and they had secured a location in the office block of one of their members while they waited for their new clubhouse to be built in two years. The new gym aimed to increase team morale and increase the amount of people who could train at the same time.

Caragh GAA came to us looking for a brand new gym as their current club gym was too small and they had secured a location in the office block of one of their members while they waited for their new clubhouse to be built in two years. The new gym aimed to increase team morale and increase the amount of people who could train at the same time.

Design & Preparations

The design and preparation of the gym were approached with precision and foresight. Detailed 3D plans were developed early in the process to visualise the space, ensure optimal equipment layout, and account for both functionality and flow. Given that the gym was to be located on the first floor of the clubhouse, additional logistical planning was required. Standard access routes were insufficient for moving large equipment, so a window was strategically removed to create a temporary entry point. To facilitate the installation, we coordinated with a height-for-hire service to safely lift and manoeuvre heavy machinery into the room—an innovative solution that allowed us to overcome structural challenges without compromising the building’s integrity.

Key Equipment

A strong emphasis was placed on selecting high- quality equipment that balanced performance, safety, and club identity. Custom weightlifting platforms were fitted and branded nameplates on racks featuring the club’s logo, reinforcing pride and professionalism throughout the space. To further inspire members and celebrate the club’s heritage, wall graphics of key players were painted, adding a motivational and personal touch to the environment. Among the standout equipment were two curved treadmills—chosen for their durability and ability to support both high-intensity conditioning and injury prevention. Safety remained a top priority, with safety squat bars installed to support proper lifting technique and reduce injury risk, ensuring the facility could accommodate users of all levels with confidence.

Installation

The installation process was a significant undertaking, requiring a team of five professional installers five days. The project began with laying down easy-clean tile
flooring—chosen specifically for its durability and low- maintenance appeal, as many GAA clubs don’t have the resources for regular professional cleaning but still aim to maintain a clean, high-standard facility. Once the flooring was complete, equipment was carefully installed and configured to maximise space and functionality. The finished gym has delivered tangible results: team morale
has noticeably improved, more players can now train simultaneously, and the overall training environment has become more structured and performance-focused. Beyond its athletic benefits, the gym has become a steady revenue stream for the club through community memberships, and has contributed to on-field success by giving players access to consistent, high-quality strength and conditioning resources
